The Caucasian Shepherd, or Caucasian Ovcharka, is a colossal breed that can weigh up to 200 pounds. For those unfamiliar with giant dogs, this size alone can be intimidating. With proper guidance, however, this dog can become a loyal companion. Males live about 10–12 years, and the breed hails from Russia and parts of Europe. Bred to guard and herd livestock, the Caucasian Shepherd is strong and confident. Their size suits the job, but without solid training and socialization, they can become aggressive and dangerous.
