33. Shar-Pei

The Shar-Pei is a Chinese breed from the south. Famous for deep wrinkles in the West, Hong Kong Shar-Peis have fewer folds. Ranked 64th on the American Kennel Club’s preferred breeds list, their soft face, sturdy body, and wary behavior toward strangers all matter. In danger or confusion, they may revert to ancient instincts, becoming alert and distant. The Shar-Pei will stand its ground until the threat is gone.
