Anxiety
Anxiety is a disorder that can affect anyone. A doctor can diagnose it by asking about your symptoms and performing a physical exam. If testing does not reveal any underlying health problems, your doctor may refer you to a mental health professional for further evaluation and treatment.
Researchers have observed a relationship between anxiety disorders and traumatic events or stress. Children who have been abused or adults who have witnessed a traumatic event are especially at risk of developing these disorders.
Tense or nervous people may not feel hungry, but it is essential to eat regularly for energy and optimal health. Loss of appetite due to anxiety can be dangerous, as it interferes with sleep and leads to overeating or not eating (both of which are harmful).
If anxiety causes you to lose your appetite, try to eat when you feel better. This can be difficult in social situations, but it can help. Also, try to eat smaller portions and opt for a healthy diet.
Stressful situations
Stress is an inevitable part of life, especially when we face important life events such as losing a job, being sick, or suffering the loss of a family member. Unfortunately, prolonged exposure to stress can lead to health problems such as anxiety and depression.
Stress can cause feelings of overwhelm, leading to weight loss. Fortunately, you can combat it with a nutritious diet and regular exercise sessions.
sleep deprivation
Research increasingly shows that sleep deprivation affects hunger hormones and metabolism, which help determine when you're full and when you should stop eating.
Researchers found that when people sleep less, their levels of leptin and ghrelin – hormones that signal satiety – decrease. This can lead to increased food intake and obesity.
Additionally, lack of sleep can affect appetite and cause cravings for high-calorie, high-fat foods, which can lead to unhealthy weight gain or even diabetes.
Eating healthy and consciously can help you manage anxiety and maintain a healthy weight. Although you should include plenty of nutritious foods in your meals and indulge in a treat from time to time, it's not necessary to follow a rigid plan.
