2.Split or Cracked Nails

Daily exposure to chemicals and the environment can make nails brittle and prone to splitting. Fungal infections and hypothyroidism, a condition with reduced hormone production, can also cause splitting. If you notice weight gain, depression, or fatigue as well, hypothyroidism may be involved. Split nails can also signal deficiencies in biotin, protein, or iron. Frequent hand washing, cleaning agents, and cold, dry climates can weaken nails. Wear gloves, moisturize often, and eat a nutrient-dense diet to help prevent issues. Nail strengtheners and keeping nails at a moderate length can further reduce splitting and cracking.
